Periodontal Maintenance
Periodontal (Gum) diseases cannot be fully cured, and the goal of active treatments such as Scaling & Root Planing, Pocket Reduction Surgery, Open Flap Debridement, Osseous Surgery, Regeneration Therapy, Guided Tissue Regeneration, and laser surgery is to create an environment that is conducive to daily home care and professional maintenance.
Typically, once a patient is diagnosed with periodontitis, he/she is more susceptible to disease recurrence even after the active treatment process. Therefore, a more frequent monitor and professional care is highly recommended to minimizes disease recurrence. During periodontal maintenance therapy, all the gum pockets will be checked to ensure stability, and thorough debridement will be completed both above and below gum line. Area needing further attention will also be pointed out to patient to ensure proper daily homecare therapy.
